Clarington Eagles Spring Camp Registration

Be part of a winning team! With our inaugural season behind us, the Central Ontario Junior Hockey League Champions have begun the task of building for their sophomore season.

A community-based franchise, the Eagles extols league first-values. We believe that the key to success is player development, both on and off the ice. We focus on criteria, such as goal setting, life skills and ethical behaviour, to develop accomplished players. Affiliated with Fort Erie’s Junior B Meteors and Cobourg’s Junior A Cougars, our players have exposure to other levels of hockey as their expertise develops.

Our coaching staff, assisted by Elite Hockey Consultants Inc. (EHC), offers a professionally organized evaluation camp. Players are guaranteed six hours of ice time, including skill testing and scrimmages. Goalies will have separate assessment sessions. In addition, there will be hockey seminars delivered by the staff of EHC and Hockey Canada representatives. Nutrition is included.

Training camp begins on Friday, June 1st. and ends on Sunday, June 3rd. Those players chosen for further evaluation will be invited back to our main camp in mid-August. The cost to attend the camp is $125.00. The players will keep their sweater. Additionally, all participants will be eligible to win a prize package consisting of three free sessions at EHC‘s High Performance training sessions during the summer. There are four prizes available.

If you wish to attend this camp, there are two ways to register. Fill in the on-line registration form and submit your payment via PayPal. Alternatively, print off the registration form, fill it out and send it to us, along with your payment. Our address is on the home page. Registration closes May 27th, 2012. All players will require a current permission to skate form from their minor association or your affiliated Junior Association. You will be contacted as to your ice schedule. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

High Performance Skill Development Camp For Junior and Midget Level Players

DEVELOPING TECHNICAL SKILLS

EHC Elite Hockey Consultants Inc. was established in 1998, to assist in furthering the overall progressive development of the game by implementing a wide variety of new and innovative approaches for teams and individual players. This High Performance Camp is based on the founding Principles of the Hockey Canada Development Model where its focus is to deliver progressive and challenging programs for play‐ ers through a fun and challenging environment. The sessions will be based on Advanced High Perform‐ ance standards with an emphasis on skating, passing, shooting, body checking and small area games. We recognize that the development of a player is sequential and progressive and that the individual must be comfortable to learn at their own pace. Our business principles are supported by many. The following are some examples:

Wayne Goldsmith writes:
“Learning, practising and mastering basic skill is one of the foundations of coaching sports performance and athletic training. However, just learning the skill is the first part of the process. Athletes do not fail because their skill level is poor: they fail because their ability to perform the skill in competition conditions is poor ‐ that’s a training issue! Learning the skill under competition conditions will ultimately develop the athlete.”

Dave Chambers writes:
“The development of individual or technical skills requires preparation, mental and physical conditioning which are all related to the practice situation. Running effective and progressive drills and practices are im‐ portant aspects of overall training.”
